Visual Installation Guide
Follow these six steps to install your sensors and connect the edge box. Use the guide on screen, or print a copy to take to site.
Exact positions, heights, and aiming directions come from your site plan.
Start with the packing list and the approved site plan.
01 / Check the kit
Lay everything out.
Keep your mounting blueprint beside this guide. You will use both throughout the installation.
- Match the sensors and their labels to the kit packing list.
- Find the mounts, approved cables, edge box, power supplies, and any supplied network or sensor interface equipment.
- Have the mounting tools and site-approved access equipment ready.
Your blueprint tells you where. A clear view tells you why.
02 / Find the locations
Match the plan to the site.
Each sensor goes at the position shown on your blueprint. The drawing here is an example, not a site layout.
- Match each sensor label to its marked mounting point on the blueprint.
- Confirm the specified height and direction, with a clear view of the measurement area.
- Locate the edge box position and trace the cable route back to it.
Use the bracket and sensor instructions supplied with your kit.
03 / Mount the sensors
Fix it firmly. Keep the view clear.
A stable sensor position is part of an accurate measurement. Repeat this step at each marked location.
- Use site-approved access equipment and follow your site's work-at-height procedures.
- Fix the supplied mount to the approved structure using the specified hardware and tightening instructions.
- Attach and orient the sensor as shown on the blueprint. Check that the mount is rigid and the sensing window is unobstructed.
Repeat the labelled cable route for each sensor.
04 / Run the cable
One tidy route back to the box.
For a PoE-equipped kit, one approved Ethernet cable carries both power and data to each sensor.
- Follow the planned route from the sensor, along the structure and down to the box location.
- Support the cable so its weight does not pull on the connector. Keep it clear of moving equipment, sharp edges, and traffic.
- Label both ends with the sensor ID. Follow the kit instructions for bend radius, maximum length, slack, and outdoor sealing.
Connection layout varies by kit. Check before powering on.
05 / Connect the box
Match the labels. Then power up.
Use the connection diagram supplied with your kit. The port positions below are illustrative.
- With power off, connect each sensor cable to the designated sensor connection. For PoE, use the specified PoE port, switch, or injector.
- Connect the edge box's network connection to your site's wired LAN. An ordinary network port does not necessarily supply PoE.
- Check all connections, then connect the supplied power equipment and turn the system on as directed by the kit instructions.
Device reporting is the first check. Sensor data is the next.
06 / Check & hand over
Confirm the site is reporting.
Devices arrive pre-provisioned. Your final check happens in the portal, not on a command line.
- Use your provider's invitation to sign in to the cloud portal, or open the local portal at the address your provider supplied.
- Find your site and confirm the edge device is green and reporting. Check with your provider that every installed sensor is supplying data.
- Record the sensor labels and any installation changes on the blueprint. Hand it over with the kit documentation.
Something doesn't match? Pause at that step and contact your provider with the sensor label, a photo, and your blueprint revision.
